RSA Chase Analysis

OFaolains Boy is the only horse in the last ten winners to have been pulled up in their prep races for the RSA.

Surprisingly only Weapons Amnesty of the last ten winners had fallen in their novice chase season before winning the RSA.

No winner in the last ten years had recorded a finish worse than fourth in their prep races when completing the course. Only the mighty Denman and last year's winner Don Poli are the only winners in the last ten years to enter the RSA unbeaten over fences.

Nine of the last ten previous winners had raced between three and five times over fences in their winning season before contesting the RSA.

RSA Chase Tips from The OLBG Forum

Top OLBG tipster Brownie3 is firmly in the camp of the ante-post favourite for the RSA, No More Heroes from the stable of Gordon Elliott:

"No More Heroes looks the real article to me, jumps very, very well, and providing he handles the quicker ground conditions, he'll be a leading player."

Most of the other tipsters on the forum seem to have missed the fancy prices about No More Heroes and are looking elsewhere for the RSA winner. JoeWBA likes the chances of former World Hurdle winner More Of That:

"Rated at least 15lbs superior to all of his rivals over the smaller obstacles, he has looked a natural over fences. Has excellent course form, with four wins from four at the track. This horse has class in abundance and stays all day, whilst he will also have one of the all-time top festival jockeys Barry Gerraghty doing the steering."

Anyone looking to take on the two favourites should be considering Blaklion each-way according to Gman84:

"I really liked Blacklion's run in the Towton. It was a slog but he jumped well, grew in strength, relishes the stamina test and was giving weight to the majority of the field."

Next on Day 2 is the fiercely competitive Coral Cup where Paul Nicholls is trying to win the race two years running after the victory of the well backed Aut Pitits Sons last year. Check out the tips and race preview for that race here.
